Nigeria 22 MW ノコギリ風力発電所
The ノコギリ風力発電所, located in the Rimi area of Katsina State in northwestern Nigeria, has an installed capacity of 22 megawatts (MW)—enough to meet the electricity needs of approximately 6,000 households. The project comprises 14 General Electric (GE) 1.6 MW wind turbines and supplies electricity to the Nigerian power grid under a 20-year power purchase agreement. PowerWorks manages the project's operations and maintenance (O&M) as well as asset management, achieving an average operational availability of over 98%. Over its 20-year operational lifespan, the electricity generated by the project will avoid or displace harmful emissions associated with fossil-fuel-based power generation, specifically preventing an estimated 3.5 tonnes of sulfur dioxide (SO2), 256 tonnes of nitrogen oxides (NOx), 32 tonnes of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), and 900,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2). Reducing these emissions mitigates adverse impacts on humans, wildlife, and ecosystems—for instance, by preventing the deaths of 2,900 birds. Furthermore, the wind farm is projected to generate over $40 million in local economic benefits (including both direct and indirect impacts) over the 20-year period; these benefits encompass property taxes, wages for high-skilled positions, land lease payments to landowners and farmers, sales taxes, and expenditures for services procured from local businesses.
